This is Poverty Awareness week in Chatham-Kent.
They raised the flag at the Civic Centre Friday, and Monday marks the start of their activities.
It opens with a Community Conversation at the Capitol Theatre from 4-6 pm.
It will feature a panel of experts on poverty and they are also looking for some input from the community.
Phillip Mock with the Prosperity Roundtable says there are 17,000 residents in the municipality living below the poverty line.
On Wednesday night they will screen “I Daniel Blake” at the Capitol Theatre from 7-9.
The movie focuses on a man’s battle through bureaucratic forces after suffering a heart attack.
They are asking for a pay what you can donation at the door.
Thursday night is Community Games Night at the Chatham Library from 6-8 and again, this event is open to any and all.
