The United Way of Chatham-Kent is teaming up with local realtors to ensure no one is left behind.

Acting CEO Patricia Peters says the new partnership, with just over $3100 in funding from the Ontario Relators Care Foundation, will help support those experiencing homelessness in Chatham-Kent.

“We have to still make sure we’re meeting basic needs of people who don’t have a roof over their head or they don’t have a home,” Peters says. “This money won’t go into building homes, this money will go into supporting folks so we can meet their basic needs. We’re about to go into a very cold and very dark season, and we want to make sure at the United Way that they are fed and they are kept warm, even without a roof over their head.”

Peters says being able to work together with like-minded organizations like the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors through the No One Left Behind campaign will help tackle a problem that affects people in communities across Chatham-Kent.

“It’s their job to make sure people are finding wonderful new homes and are comfortable and feeling welcome and part of our community, and yet they are very mindful there are folks who don’t have enough housing, and we have housing issues in Chatham-Kent.” This is a really great partnership to be engaged in.”
