Premier Doug Ford is responding to those remaining business owners wondering when they get their turn to re-open or return to the next stage of normal.
This includes restaurant owners and hair salons.
The Premier says the province is undertaking a regional approach.
“We’re looking at a regional approach. With the Toronto and GT-HA area, we’re looking at a little different approach because the numbers are a lot higher,” says the Premier. “Number one, we have to make sure that we’re very cautious. We have to go through the health table to make sure they’re okay with it. Like I’ve always said, there’s no one who wants to get this economy going more than I do. But I’m going to do it in a very safe and healthy way.”
Among the discussion on the floor is the re-opening of hair salons, a very concerning topic locally.
“We’ve come so far, I just don’t want to chance anything,” adds Ford. “So we’ll get there and we’ll be talking more in days to come about the regional approach.”
Hair salon owners locally and across the province have been crying out for their turn to re-open their doors safely.
Ford says the provincial government is working with health officials, stake holders and elected officials to put together what he calls a very complicated regional approach. More details are expected within the week.
