A newly upgraded water tower will soon be unveiled in Wallaceburg.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent will unveil the tower’s new logo on Friday, following a months-long, $3.7 million rehabilitation project of the elevated storage water tank, located at 6500 Otter Line.
Rehabilitation of the water tower began in January and involved the complete replacement of the interior and exterior coatings of the tank, and the installation of a hydro-dynamic mixing system inside the tank to improve water age and chlorine residuals.
Additional health and safety features were also installed, along with a guardrail system on the tank roof. As well, upgrades were made to the lighting system and the process mechanical equipment within the base of the structure.
The municipality said these improvements, which were completed by BGL Contracting, will extend the tower’s reliability and functionality for the new 20-plus years.
The Wallaceburg elevated storage water tank was originally constructed in 1999 and is the fifth tank to be rehabilitated in Chatham-Kent in the last 10 years.
