Remembering Bryon Fluker

Chatham-Kent has lost another long-time politician.

Former West Kent councillor Bryon Fluker passed away Wednesday at the age of 76.

Bryon Fluker had a 46 year career in local politics, elected to Tilbury council in 1972, later serving as the town’s mayor for eight years. He joined the newly amalgamated Chatham-Kent council in 1998, where he represented West Kent until 2018.

During his tenure, Fluker served on the PUC and Police Services board.

Fluker was also an educator, teaching and coaching at Tilbury District High School.

Visitation will be held at Reaume Funeral Home in Tilbury on Sunday, followed by a memorial service at Valetta Presbyterian Church Monday morning.

Fluker is the second long-standing politician to pass away recently. The community lost Former MP and Chatham-Kent Councillor Rex Crawford two weeks ago.
