Tributes are pouring in for a local educator, Legion member, and community supporter.

Sandy Easton passed away at his home in Port Lambton on Saturday at the age of 80.

Easton began his teaching career in Wallaceburg. He went on to serve as the Superintendent of the Kent County Roman Catholic Separate School Board, the youngest Superintendent in the province at the age of 35, and ended his career as Director of Education with what is now the St Clair Catholic District School Board.

He is also being remembered as a compassionate storyteller for sharing the legacy of WW2 veterans each Remembrance Day.

A member of the Legion Branch 18 and 4th degree Wallaceburg Heart Knights of Columbus, Easton will be laid to rest on Wednesday.
