The Lambton-Kent District School Board is preparing for the first phase of a multi-year refresh of CKSS in Chatham.
Brian McKay is Superintendent of Business and says the total cost is around $3.6-million for a new facade, new classrooms, and a revamped cafeteria.
“It’s our largest secondary school, enrollment wise for the board, and actually has our smallest cafeteria, which obviously creates concerns for students on lunchtime as well as creating a good learning environment for other uses,” McKay says.
CKSS, which was built in 1963 and last renovated in 2004, has roughly 1600 students.
McKay says the plan is to do the work in the summer months to mitigate the impact the students.
