The streetlights in downtown Wallaceburg are on track to be replaced.

At tonight’s Chatham-Kent council meeting, council will look to approve a $188,000 tender to replace 35 streetlights and poles, which are now almost 40 years old.

There are concerns with the deterioration and safety of these poles and the lack of availability of replacement parts.

Council will also look to approve spending $626,000 to replace 31 streetlights and poles in the community of Thamesville.
