Revamping CK’s Taxi Bylaw

The Municipality is looking at making changes to how taxis operate in Chatham-Kent.

With recent talks about private transportation companies like Uber and Lyft, the Municipality is considering repealing the current taxi bylaw and replacing it with a Vehicle for Hire bylaw.

The proposed changes could include no zones or plate limits, no regulation of fares, and no requirements around having a dispatch office.

A public meeting is being held at the Civic Centre tonight, starting at six o’clock.

Anyone wishing to speak on the issue is welcome to attend.
