A Ward 1 Councillor is concerned about the stress Chatham-Kent’s emergency services are under.

Mark Authier says CK’s ambulances recently shifted their base locations to accommodate the temporary closure of Highway 40 at the 401, and this has caused some significant changes in wait times.

“I sure hoe we can figure out a better way of the way we move the ambulances around,” Authier says. “I’ve heard from EMS as well as fire administrators that we’re definitely stressed.”

Just yesterday, Authier says a young boy in his ward broke his arm had to wait 45 minutes for emergency crews to arrive.

Authier is asking municipal administration for recommendations on alleviating some of this stress, either by purchasing another ambulance, or by moving where they’re stationed.
