A piece of local history comes back to life this weekend.

The Ridge House Museum opens for the season on Sunday, June 1.

The Gothic revival-style home portrays what life was like as a middle class family in 1875. Its guided tours, interactive spaces, and Discovery Den offers fun for the whole family.

Visitors are free to walk around the grounds and enjoy the Pollinator Patch – a mix of Ontario native plants and heritage flowers developed in partnership with the Ridgetown & District Horticultural Society.

To mark Ridgetown’s 150th anniversary, the museum will be presenting “Making the Map: the settlers of Ridgetown.” This exhibition will highlight stories and artifacts from the four families who settled on the area now known as Ridgetown.

On July 19 and 20 and August 16 and 17, the Ridge House Museum will be closed to the public. On those days, we will be hosting Escape the Ridge House: Happy Birthday Ridgetown. To register, visit https://www.chatham-kent.ca/ridgehouse

Ridge House is located at 53 Erie Street South, and is open to drop-in visitors from June 1 – August 31, Wednesday through Sunday, 11am – 4pm, and Saturday, 10am – 6pm. Admission is by donation.
