Another Beer Store location is on the chopping block as part of the company’s latest round of closure announcements.
The Beer Store will close another 10 Ontario retail locations on September 14, including the Ridgetown store at 90 Erie St. S.
The latest announcement brings the total number of stores closed to more than 80, following the Ford government’s decision in May, 2024 to end its exclusivity agreement with the retailer, and allowing other locations to sell beer, wine and mixed drinks.
Earlier this month, The Beer Store announced that the retail location at 160 Oak St. in Bothwell is also slated to close on August 24.
As part of an agreement with the Ontario government, at least 300 Beer Store locations must remain open until the end of 2025. As of January 1, 2026, the retailer will be allowed to close as many locations as it chooses.
