Unwelcome communication with an ex has landed a Ridgetown man with some serious charges.

Chatham-Kent Police started looking into the situation this week, and say the man allegedly sent repeated text messages and phone calls to the victim after their relationship ended, despite pleas for him to stop. The man is also accused of going to the woman’s home this past Sunday, resulting in what police describe as unwanted sexual contact.

Police tracked down the suspect driving on Maple Street in Ridgetown. Believing he had been drinking, officers brought him to police headquarters for tests.

The 46-year-old is charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, criminal harassment, and sexual assault. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
