Ridgetown’s High School Wants a Track

rdhsRidgetown’s high school is hoping to receive $75,000 from the Municipality to build a track.

Students have to travel to Chatham to access a track, and Councillor David VanDamme says all students in Ridgetown can benefit from having one nearby,

“The unique thing about Ridgetown is that there’s two elementary schools and one university-college. If we get this track, there’s so much runway and ability for not just the high school to use, but other schools and local residents to use this as a walking track.”

VanDamme also says that students have to travel to Chatham to access a track,

“They have such a great group of athletes there that have always done well at track events. When you have that kind of talent, you have to do something about it. It’s not fair that these kids have to travel out of the community to enjoy a sport that they’re good at.”

The request will be discussed during budget deliberations.
