Above seasonal temperatures and rain over the Christmas weekend has local conservationists keeping a watchful eye on local waterways.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority combined runoff from the rainfall and melted snow caused water levels to rise and some watercourses spilled their banks earlier this week, forcing officials to use the Indian-McGregor Creek Diversion Channel.
A small ice jam has formed on the Thames between Harwich and Communication Road, but it’s not expected to cause any problems.
