A local woman has been arrested following a violent robbery in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police say officers were called to a St Clair Street store just before 11:30 Tuesday morning. According to investigators, an employee believed the accused had stolen something and asked her to leave the store. The woman allegedly demanded money, then walked behind the counter, backed the clerk up against the wall, and assaulted them.

The suspect was found by police a short time later.

The 44-year-old is now charged with robbery and was held in custody for a bail hearing.
