Robbery Suspects Ram Police Cruiser To Escape Officers

One robbery suspect has been arrested while another remains at large after a vehicle crashed into a police cruiser in an attempt to escape officers.

The Ontario Provincial Police said early Thursday morning, officers received a report that a stolen vehicle, which had been involved in a robbery in Tilbury, was travelling east on Highway 401.

Officers located the vehicle at the Onroute Service Centre in Dutton-Dunwich at around 4:06 a.m. However, when police attempted to interact with the occupants, the vehicle struck a marked OPP cruiser and drove off. No one was injured.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later on Pioneer Line in Dutton-Dunwich and one suspect was located and arrested without incident. Custody of the suspect has since been transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

One suspect remains outstanding but police do not believe there is a threat to public safety.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
