A local politician says it’s never been more important to ensure everyone, especially those in rural areas, has access to reliable high speed internet.
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Lianne Rood is eager to get to work as the Conservative Party’s Shadow Minister for Rural Economic Development and Rural Broadband Strategy.
“It’s unacceptable that there’s an imbalance in prioritization from this Liberal government,” Rood says. “All Canadians regardless of where we live, we’re all deserving of equal representation, and it’s unacceptable that rural Canadians can’t connect to high speed internet, especially here in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.”
Rood, now into her second term as an MP, says the federal government and shadow cabinet will be unveiling their main priorities in the next few weeks.
“We see affordability and the cost of living as a crisis that’s facing our country right now. Making sure that our rural areas, our small towns, have affordable living for folks to attract people to our rural areas, to keep our towns thriving and alive across this country, and to make sure that projects and money are flowing equally to Canadians in all parts of this country.”
Rood says given Canada is facing another minority government, it’s anyone’s guess how long it will be until the next election, so when it comes to making life better for Canadians, time is of the essence.
