The Ford government has appointed 43 MPPs as parliamentary assistants, including Chatham-Kent-Leamington rookie Trevor Jones.
Jones has been named one of two Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Long-time Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey has been named Parliamentary Assistant to the Solicitor General.
The new appointments mean of the 83 Conservatives elected on June 2nd, 73 of them now have specific positions within government.
In a news release, the Premier’s Office says Parliamentary assistants support ministers with legislative and committee matters, including special projects and assignments that require dedicated leadership. They also play a key role in building relationships and communicating government initiatives across the province.
The role comes with an extra annual payment of just over $16,000 on top of MPPs usual salary.
