Work begins in earnest this week on a new roundabout west of Chatham.

Municipal officials say starting this morning, Merlin Road will be closed between McDougall Line and Queens Line as part of the intersection improvement project. The closure is expected to remain in effect until May 5. All lanes of Queens Line itself will remain open.

The next two phases of construction will begin later in the spring and will include additional lane and road closures. The municipality will be providing updates with closure dates as the project progresses.

The roundabout is scheduled to be completed by July 2025.

Motorists traveling through the area during construction follow the posted speed limits and construction detour signage at all times. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the project.
