Rucksack March for Remembrance

Local police officers will be helping to support Canadian veterans and first responders this week and are hoping to inspire others to join the cause.

This Saturday marks the Rucksack March for Remembrance, hosted by Wounded Warriors Canada, raising awareness and funds for those fighting mental health and service-related battles.

A squad of Chatham-Kent Police Service members will be joined by other teams at Kingston Park in Chatham, strapping on weighted packs for a 22 kilometre trek. A five kilometre option is also available.

Officials say each year, too many soldiers, officers, firefighters, and paramedics are lost to illness, injury, and suicide. Proceeds from the Rucksack March go directly to Wounded Warriors Canada, a national mental health service provider for trauma exposed professionals and their families.

Registration begins at 9 o’clock.
