It appears rumours about the impending demolition of a historic building in downtown Chatham were nothing more than that – rumours.
Social media posts began to swirl earlier this week, claiming the Taylor Williamson block on King Street West was going to be torn down to make room for more parking for the Boardwalk on the Thames apartments.
Municipal officials say anyone demolishing a building of that type would require a permit, and so far, the building department had not received any such applications.
99.1 News reached out to the Everlast Group to confirm the rumours, the only reply from Leasing Agent Lynn O’Brien was “That is not correct.”
The social media posts which started the rumour mill churning have since been removed.
