Local residents will be lacing up their running shoes for a good cause this weekend.
Sunday, October 6 marks the annual CIBC Run for the Cure in support of Canadians impacted by breast cancer.
Registration begins at 9:30 at John McGregor Secondary School on Cecile Avenue in Chatham, followed by opening ceremonies at 10, which will include a tribute to the Participants of Hope who will share their stories and personal connections to breast cancer.
There are two distance options, a 1km run and a 5km along the Mud Creek Trail, both getting underway at 10:30.
Proceeds help fund various support programs offered by the Canadian Cancer Society, including transportation for patients to get to their breast cancer treatments; peer support programs; wigs, headware, and breast prostheses; and funding breast cancer research in Canada.
