An inaugural fundraiser in Chatham-Kent has raised tens of thousands of dollars in support of local kids and families.
The first-ever Run for the Kids charity run took place in Rondeau Provincial Park on Sunday, raising $80,000 for the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.
“It was a massive success. Anytime you can raise over $80,000 in one day, it’s absolutely incredible,” said CTC Foundation President Mike Genge.
Around 250 participants attended to run, walk or move in either the 200m or 5km events. Of those taking part, around 40 were kids.
“At the end of the day, we had a lot of happy people that had a lot of fun and we raised a lot of money. Our community is incredible in supporting what we do at the Children’s Treatment Centre,” said Genge.
The Run for the Kids also featured live music, a BBQ, and activities for children.
All of the proceeds raised will support services at the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent that are not covered by government funding. This includes social work, therapeutic recreation services and music therapy.
