A yearly event in support of local children with physical and developmental needs is being hailed a success.

The third annual Run for the Kids was held on Sunday at Rondeau Provincial Park, raising $120,000 for the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent.

“We’re so grateful for the overwhelming community support,” said foundation President and CEO Mike Genge in a news release. “Every dollar raised stays right here in our community and helps ensure children and families have access to the services they need to thrive.”

Hundreds of participants took part in a 200-metre Kids Dash and an inclusive 5 km walk/run/move around the park. The family-friendly event also included craft stations, face painting, BBQ hot dogs, and fun activities.

All proceeds raised through the fundraiser will go towards essential programs at the Children’s Treatment Centre, which are not funded by the government. These include social work, therapeutic recreation services, and music therapy.
