The long arm of the law – and the quick feet – caught up with a Chatham man over the weekend.

Authorities were called about a suspicious man around Wellington and Adelaide in Chatham around 9 Sunday morning.

When officers arrived, the suspect allegedly took off on foot and ran through several backyards, jumping over fences, before being taken into custody.

As it turns out, police say the 24-year-old was under house arrest and only allowed to leave his residence when accompanied by his surety.

The man has now been charged with failing to comply with his release conditions, and held in custody for a bail hearing.
