Lianne Rood will be carrying the banner for the Conservatives when the next federal election rolls around.
The party has announced the MP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex has been acclaimed as the candidate.
Rood is a first time member, and was recently named Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food.
With the prime minister leading a minority government that has already fought off two non-confidence votes in the house, the party wants to be ready for a snap election call.
