A historic gathering is taking place in Chatham over the next week.
Starting August 14, a massive spiritual and cultural convergence is being held at the Everest Convention Centre.
The Bhutanese Nepali Community of Chatham-Kent is hosting a seven-day sacred spiritual event of wisdom and devotion, Shrimad Bhagwat Saptaha Gyan Mahayagya, transforming the National Road event centre into a vibrant epicentre of heritage, unity, and devotion.
As many as 10,000 people are expected to take part in the celebrations, with devotees coming from across Canada, the United States, and beyond.
Organizers say along with celebrating Indian heritage, the historic gathering serves as a launching pad to establish a permanent Hindu Temple and community hall in southwestern Ontario.
Opening ceremonies begin at noon on Friday. Daily cultural discourses and rituals will continue through to August 21.
