Thanks to the generosity of the local community this holiday season, the Chatham-Kent Salvation Army has surpassed another fundraising goal.
With a goal of $500,000, the Salvation Army’s Christmas campaign brought in a total of $500,638.41.
As part of the campaign, the Salvation Army received a total of $162,453.50 in donations to its Red Kettles. This included cash, TipTap or cheques that were put in kettles at various locations throughout CK. Officials said Red Kettle donations were up $17,061.35 from last year.
As well, an additional $338,184.91 in donations were either hand-delivered, mailed in, or submitted online. This is down by $60,384.45 from 2022.
All proceeds raised supported food and toy baskets handed out over the holiday season, as well as local programs and services, such as local thrift stores and food banks.
