RM Sotheby’s is teaming up with the Municipality and RetroFest to bring a huge event to downtown Chatham this summer.

Normally, RetroFest takes place at the end of May, but organizers moved the event to line up with RM’s anniversary.

The event will kick off with a huge parade through downtown Chatham on Friday, June 21st, followed by the annual RetroFest classic car cruise, and a concert in Tecumseh Park featuring Sam Roberts Band.

RM founder Rob Myers says this event will be like the event he held for the 25th anniversary.

“Lots of cars, some celebrities, and some unusual pieces that I’ve collected and friends have collected over the years,” Myers says.

The festivities will continue on Saturday, June 22nd with what Myers hopes will be thousnads of classic cars lining the streets of downtown Chatham. There will also be ticketed event behind the Civic Centre, featuring some of the rarest cars in the world; activities and entertainment in Tecumseh Park; and an evening show at the Capitol Theatre, although the lineup for that has yet to be announced.

The two-day event will also help support three local charities that are close to Myers’ heart: the Chatham-Kent Hospice, Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, and the Children’s Treatment Centre. Myers says he and his wife will also be making a personal donation to help support building a new facility for the Treatment Centre.
