A local arts organization is supporting high school students seeking post-secondary education in the arts and culture field with an annual scholarship.
The Chatham-Kent Arts Council (CKAC) has announced the return of its Emerging Youth Artist Scholarship program, with one $2,000 award being granted to a high school student graduating this year from any secondary school in Chatham-Kent.
The scholarship is open to students between 16-20 years old who will be continuing their post-secondary studies in an arts-related discipline, including performing and literary arts, arts administration, and the recording arts.
“The importance of supporting emerging artists through programs like ours is foundational,” said CKAC Board Chair Laurie Langford in a news release. “It ensures the development of careers, and the creative sector’s future. Students working and studying in all disciplines and mediums are encouraged to apply.”
The deadline for applications is 11:59 p.m. on April 30. All submissions must include a minimum of three work samples and be made online through the CKACN website.
