While the election campaign is underway for the lion’s share of municipal candidates in Chatham-Kent, two local trustees can rest easy.

Janet Barnes has been acclaimed as the Lambton Kent District School Board trustee for Wards four and five.

The Wallaceburg resident will represent Wallaceburg, North Kent and South Lambton for the next four years.

Barnes says everyone should take an interest in the well-being of schools, whether they have students there or not.

“It’s the old saying of ‘it takes a village to raise a child,’ and I truly believe in that,” Barnes says. “Parents need to be involved and teachers, but the individual (student) themselves need to be involved as well.”

Meantime, Brenda Rumble of Blenheim has been acclaimed as the representative for West and South Kent on the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.
