They get our kids to and from school safely every day – today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.
Kent Orr, general manager of Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services says motorists need to do their part to keep everyone safe on the roads.
“Recognize a school bus when you see it, make sure you stop, there’s kids around the bus boarding and disembarking,” says Orr. “In terms of the drivers, stop for a minute and say thanks to the drivers. Get your kids to say thank you, a lot of the schools will do things to say thanks.
Orr says on any given day, there are more than 300 buses on the road in the region, travelling over 46,000 kilometers every day with close to 17,000 students on board.
