Ontario’s Education Minister is expected to make the announcement parents have been waiting to hear on Wednesday.
Stephen Lecce says he will consult with provincial health officials before making a final call on the rest of schools reopening for in person learning.
There are 16 public health regions still doing virtual school across southern Ontario, including Chatham-Kent and Lambton County.
The province is also expected to check with local health units as the decision will be based on local case numbers and local preparedness plans.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Williams, has reportedly said he’s finalizing his advice on how schools can safely reopen during the pandemic.
Lecce said Monday the last thing they want to do is open the schools and then have to close them again.
It’s possible the remainder of schools with kids still learning online could head back to the classroom next Wednesday, February 10th.
