It’s business as usual for schools across Ontario.
A strike by 55,000 educational support staff province-wide was averted after weekend talks were able to produce a tentative three-year agreement.
Full details of the agreement haven’t been released, but the union said it was able to secure modest wage increases and maintain its existing sick leave plan.
The deal also includes a $20-million reinvestment, which will see as many as 1500 jobs that had been cut when the government eliminated the funding late last year, will be brought back.
A joint statement from the Lambton-Kent and St Clair Catholic boards says all schools and facilities will be open to students and staff as normal this morning.
