School Trips Axed Amid COVID-19 Concerns

Concerns about the COVID-19 virus have prompted the Lambton Kent District School Board to cancel some of its March Break trips abroad for some high school students.

A number of trips to Europe, including Italy, France, and Spain, have been axed, in keeping with Canadian travel advisories.

Board officials say student safety and well-being is a top priority.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce federal measures today to help health care systems across the country cope with the increasing number of coronavirus cases.

Reports say the idea is to try to contain the spread of the illness as much as possible while also helping workers who are forced to isolate themselves.
