The long arm of the law caught up with a man wanted by Chatham-Kent Police this week, however it wasn’t who officers were expecting.
Shortly after 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, police responded to a Harvey Street address, following a tip that a man wanted in connection to the August 25 fire at 99 McNaughton Avenue West was seen walking into the home.
A search of the property failed to locate the arson suspect. However, officers did find another man hiding in the attic. Authorities say the man was facing charges as part of a previous mischief investigation and was under court orders prohibiting him from that address.
The 34-year-old from Windsor was arrested and is now charged with mischief and failing to comply with an undertaking. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
In the meantime, police say the arson suspect, previously identified as 48-year-old Leonard Greason, remains at large and officers continue to follow up on any tips on his whereabouts.
