Charges have been laid against a 34-year-old after he left pumped gas at three gas stations and left without paying.

Chatham-Kent Police say the man was at a gas station on Richmond Street in Chatham last week where he pumped $56 of gas into his vehicle and left without paying. It was discovered that the licence plates on the vehicle were stolen.

Friday morning, police say the same man pumped $40 of gasoline at a gas station on McNaughton Ave in Wallaceburg and left without paying. The same day, he pumped $38 of gasoline at a gas station on Grand Ave in Chatham, and again, left without paying.

Yesterday evening, police found the vehicle on Grand Ave in Chatham with the man sitting inside. Police say through investigation, they found that the vehicle was stolen.

Officials say the man was arrested at the scene. The 34-year-old Windsor man is facing three counts of Theft Under $5000, one count of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, and one count of Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.

He’s been released from custody with a future court date.
