UPDATE: Elderly Woman Airlifted To Hospital Following Tilbury Collisions

Police are continuing to investigate following a pair of collisions in Tilbury that resulted in an elderly woman being airlifted to hospital.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said at around 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday, an SUV and a van collided at the intersection of Canal Street and Ella Street. The van then struck a pole before coming to a stop.

The occupants of the van were not injured.

The SUV then continued travelling east on Canal Street before turning on Tilbury Street. The vehicle failed to negotiate the bend on Tilbury Street near Mill Street and drove off the road.

The driver of the SUV, an 86-year-old Romney Township woman, was airlifted to a hospital in London for medical attention. Police have not released further details about her condition.

The collision remains under investigation by the Chatham-Kent Traffic Unit.
