Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith has a new home.
On the opening day of NHL free agency, Griffith has agreed to a two-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers.
The deal is a two-way contract worth $1.45-million. The Chatham-Kent Sports Network says Griffith’s cap hit will be $725,000 per season.
Griffith is expected to report to Edmonton’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, located in Bakersfield, California.
The local product spent the last two seasons in the Winnipeg Jets organization, leading the team in point production each year. Last season, Griffith led the AHL club in both goals and points totals.
The 27-year-old was drafted by the Boston Bruins 131st overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
