Charges have been laid after an alleged impaired driver nearly collided with multiple other vehicles.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service received a traffic complaint on Saturday at around 4 p.m. about a driver who was unable to remain in their lane and had nearly struck several motorcyclists and another vehicle.
Officers located a suspect on Merlin Road in Raleigh Township and conducted a traffic stop. Believing the driver was under the influence of alcohol, he was arrested and taken to police headquarters for further testing, which was refused.
As a result, a 53-year-old Merlin man has been charged with impaired driving and refusing to comply with a breath demand. He will answer the charges in court next month.
