This week marks National Addictions Awareness Week across Canada.
The campaign is focused on raising awareness on the impacts to families and communities, it’s estimated that 6-million Canadians will struggle with addiction in their lives.
Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent Executive Director, Alan Stevenson says it’s something they see every day.
“In the last year we’ve served about 8,000 people and about half of those have or will experienced some kind of substance abuse issue at the same time as they experience a mental health challenge,” says Stevenson, adding.”We see addiction in a variety of different ways.”
This is the first year the CMHA is marking the week.
