Shipley Concerned About Government Spending

With the spring session of Parliament behind him, one local politician is heading into the summer break with some concerns.

Lambton Kent Middlesex MP Bev Shipley says the increased spending by the Trudeau Liberals has him worried about the effects on small business owners.

“98-99 percent of this country’s economy comes from small to medium sized business,” says Shipley. “Now they’re going to get saddled again with a Canada Pension Plan increase. Will there be people happy to see that? Sure there will be. The issue though becomes does it affect jobs and who’s going to pay for it?”

Shipley says it’s frustrating hearing the government talk about increased accountability and transparency, but seemingly working against those ideals.

Shipley has a busy summer break ahead of him, with plans to meet with area residents and farmers, as well as a trip to Haiti.
