A local politician will be getting a first-hand education in third-world agriculture practices this summer.
Lambton Kent Middlesex MP Bev Shipley is heading to Haiti in August.
“How can they help develop an agriculture industry of some sort there,” Shipley asks. “You have to remember the techniques and technology, what we do here in Ontario and in Canada is not what we talk about over there. You go back 60 years and you’re likely closer to the technology that they have.”
Shipley says unfortunately the trip means he’ll miss WAMBO celebrations, although his office will continue to hold the annual barbecue.
