The annual Shop with a Cop program is taking place this morning.

Nearly 100 kids have been paired up with a law enforcement officer.

OPP Constable Jay Denorer says each child has been given a $100 gift card to use at the Chatham Wal-Mart.

“They can buy whatever they want for their family members or whoever they want to shop for,” Denorer says. “One of the stipulations is they have to buy a gift, one gift, for themselves to open on Christmas Day.”

The day also includes breakfast at the Bradley Convention Centre, gift wrapping, and other activities.

Denorer says this year, they’ve doubled the number of kids who can participate.
