Shoplifter Busted Twice In Same Day

A local woman is facing charges after allegedly getting caught shoplifting twice in the same day.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a retail store on St. Clair Street in Chatham at around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday after a woman concealed merchandise and left without attempting to pay.

As a result, a 40-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested, charged, and later released from custody.

Later that same day, the woman allegedly attempted to steal several other items from another retail store. However, she was located and arrested once again.

The accused is now charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts possession of stolen property under $5,000. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
