Charges have been laid following a shoplifting incident in Chatham.

Shortly after 2 Wednesday afternoon, officers were called to a grocery store on St Clair Street near Pioneer Line after a man was seen stealing items from the store.

The accused was arrested a short distance away and police learned he was already wanted on an outstanding warrant for bail violations.

The 45-year-old is now charged with mischief, unauthorized use of a credit card, and fraud, as well as two counts each of failing to comply with a probation order, theft, failing to comply with a release order, possession of stolen property, and failing to attend court.
