An arrest has been made after a store employee was assaulted after confronting a customer about shoplifting.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a shoplifting complaint Wednesday evening at a business on Park Avenue East in Chatham.
Authorities said a woman struck a staff member when approached about the incident.
A 39-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and is now charged with assault. She was taken to police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
