Running 100 kilometres in one day is feat enough on its own, but a Chatham man did more than that on Thursday.

Kevin Owen, local businessman and board member at the Chatham-Kent Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation, surpassed his goal with a shore to shore ultra-marathon, raising $111,000 to support the organization.

Owen began his run at 3am in Mitchell’s Bay, making his way through Wallaceburg, Dresden, Kent Bridge, Chatham, Blenheim, and wrapping up in Erieau just before 7 o’clock Thursday night.

The Children’s Treatment Centre provides a variety of programs and services for thousands of children in the region. A number of those programs, including social work, therapeutic recreation services, and music therapy, are not covered by provincial funding.
