Chatham-Kent Police say there’s no danger to public safety after shots were heard in Ridgetown early Sunday.

Authorities received two calls from residents shortly before 1:30 yesterday morning reporting the sound of gunshots near New Scotland Line.

Officers responded and while no one was in the area, several 12 gauge shells and .308 casings were found.

At this point, police believe the suspects were shooting at deer a short distance from where the casings were located, and nothing of concern was found in a nearby field or bush.
